According to Chris Ward ‘A post-raid analysis concluded that a strong wind had pushed the attack into the western half of the city (Munich), where 291 buildings had been destroyed and 660 severely damaged. The aero-engine assembly plant at the BMW factory was put out of action for six weeks and many other industrial concerns also lost vital production.’ (Ward with Raymond Glynne-Owen, 207 Squadron p. 165)

Lancaster I W4172 took off 2041 9 Mar 1943 from Langar. Shot down by a pair of Fw190 night-fighters on the way home and crashed 0159 10 Mar 1943 near Lavannes (Marne) 12 km NE of Reims France. Four fatalities: Ivor Wood (P), Richard Hall Warren (BA), George Sydney Margetson (AG), George Mortimore (AG).
