Military history

He enlisted in February 1940, joining the Fleet Air Arm but transferred to the Royal Navy in November.
He was commissioned 19/2/1942.
April 1942 he was wounded in the arm and leg.
July 1942 seriously wounded, enough so that his parents were called to the hospital in Brighton.
After a spell in Scotland he was assigned to HMS Corncrake, as a survey officer.
The Fish-Class Minesweeper HMS Mackerel converted to Minelayer HMS Corncrake during construction, commissioned December 1942.
Foundered in the North Atlantic off Donegal Irish coast in a storm will escorting Royal Canadian Navy convoy to Gibraltar with the loss of all crew.
