On 19 December 1944 the Royal Welch Fusiliers 6th Bn. were ordered to rush to the Ardennes where the Germans launched a surprise attack. On the 28th the Welsh replaced the
American 2nd Armored Division between Marche and Hotton. From 3 January 1945 they counter attacked German positions on Ourthe River and they took Rendeux after a difficult fight.
