Paul Tooley was the pilot of Lancaster l LM169 which took off 2114 16 Sept 1944 from Tuddenham (near Newmarket), Suffolk, to bomb Flak positions in support of Operation Market Garden (Arnhem). It is thought to have collided with a 115 Sqdn Lancaster. No survivors.
Fatalities: Paul William Tooley + FO James Edward Brown (AB), Sgt Leslie Mathers Gill (AG), FO Harry Johnson (N), Sgt Eric John Smalldon (AG), FO David Selwyn Thomas (WO) & Sgt Roy Whittington (FE).
