Family history

Son of James Perciva land Louisa M. Lancaster and the brother of Rex Fredwrick Lancaster. In 1901, they lived at 6, Castle Street, Dudley and had moved to 104, St Peter's Avenue, Cleethorpes by 1911. By 1921, they were living in Nottingham at 140, Derby Road. Eric was listed as a 'Wireless Operator Signals, Northern Command.' In 1939, James and Louisa lived at 2, Oxclose Lane, Arnold Nottingham.

Eric Lancaster and May Owen were married at Nottingham in 1921 and they had two children - Eric (1922) and Audrey (1929). May Lancaster died at Nottingham in 1939 aged 43.

Military history

Eric Dulson Lancaster served in the Great War. He enlisted March 1915 into the King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry (4073) aged 15 later transferring to the Highland Light Infantry (283218) and serving in France.

He joined the Signals TA in 1921 and was mobilised in August 1939 as Regimental Quatermaster Sergeant. He served in France ,surviving Dunkirk, and was posted to the Middle East in May 1944 (Nottingham Evening Post 28/3/1944).

His death in Italy was apparently accidental (Nottingham Journal 25/3/1944).
