Leslie Taylor attended St Paul's School, Hyson Green. According to the Nottingham Evening Post (13/3/1944) he 'won considerable renown as a sportsman while stationed in India.'

Family history

He was the son of Samuel and Adelaide Taylor who were married at Radford, Nottingham 11/10/1890. He was the brother of Samuel, Albert, Leonard, Arthur and Harold Taylor. In 1911, they lived at 7, Court Street, Hyson Green, Nottingham.

Leslie Taylor and Elsie Elizabeth Jeffrey were married in Nottinghamshire in 1937. She and their three children lived 'for some time after Dunkirk at 81, Beechdale Road, Bilborough Estate, Nottingham' (Nottingham Evening Post 13/3/1944). Elsie later moved to Shoeburyness, Essex.
