HMS Puckeridge

HMS Puckeridge was a Type II HUNT Class Escort Destroyer ordered under the 1939 Emergency War Programme and launched on 17th October 1940. On December 13th 1941, off the Pembroke coast, Puckeridge was hit on the Quarterdeck by a bomb which caused an explosion in the aft 4” magazine. 18 ratings were killed including Able Seaman Arthur Thompson from Nottingham. 20 men were injured. Following a U boat attack, Puckeridge was abandoned off Morocco 11/9/1943. (naval-history.net)
