The battalion's supply and engineers were at Gainsborough. Most personnel were either 1939 pows or Warsaw uprising pows absorped from camps in Austria and absorbed into 2nd Corps ost 1945. They didn’t see combat but guarded stores/depot/supply trains in postwar Italy. They started arriving in the UK, via Liverpool, in early 1946. Kruk had not been here long before he died of a heart attack at Militia Camp,Gainsborough. He is buried in Retford cemetery (Courtesy of Michael and Elizabth Szarelis).
