On the night of 10/11th December they were engaged by the Japanese forces and from then until the Fall of Singapore on the 15th February 1942 and the surrender of the Allied forces they were engaged in continual action against the Japanese. On the 20th December due to the heavy casualties the regiment was amalgamated with the 2nd East Surrey Regiment as they nolonger had enough men to form a battalion.
