Military history

Frederick died in the Basse Normandie region of France. Banneville where he is buried is in the Calvados area.
Initially Frederick had been buried in the cemetery at Herouvillette but he and many other men lost in the battles for Caen were re-interred at Benneville in December 1945.
Heouvillette was liberated on the 7th of June 1944 and in July 1944 it was a staging post for troops prepring for Operation Goodwood and the battle for Caen.
