J Brailsford named on Newark memorial, James Brailsford is the only casualty listed by the CWGC. No link to the Newark area has been found. James Brailsford was born and lived in the Belper area of Derbyshire.

J Brailsford may be a mistaken entry for Dvr John Brailsford of the Royal Engineers reported missing at The Fall of Singapore, but later found to be a POW of the Japanese. Registered at No. 4 POW camp Thailand, near Tamuang, 34km point on Burma Thailand Railway. Born in Newark, his parents lived in Farndon. Survived the war, returning to the UK October 1945 on HMS Boissevain.
