Military history

4 April 1942 Oxford AB662 14 Pilot Advanced Flying Unit (14PAFU) RAF Ossington crashed near Huddersfield. 05.00 the aircraft hit a stone barn on high ground, at Gate Foot Farm, Gatefoot Lane, Shepley near Holmfirth, West Yorkshire when the pilot was undertaking a night cross country training flight.

The aircraft was reported to have been miles off the intended track at the time of the accident after losing sight of the flare path at RAF Ossington and becoming lost.

Buried Ollerton Cemetery. Joined the Royal Canadian Air Force 1941.
