Military history

HMS President was the designation for men serving on one of the DEMS (Defensively Equipped Marchent Ships).
S.S. Orminster. A steam merchant sunk by U-480 on the way back to Isle of Wight from Juno Beach, Normandy on post D-Day operations. 7 died (1 seaman and 7 gunners) but 55 crew survived the sinking. Ronald was one of the gunners.
