Military history

25 March 1942 Hampden P5329 455 Sqn. While returning to RAF Wigsley on a transit flight from St Eval, 17.43 the starboard propeller came off and the aircraft crashed at Sparks Farm, Watchfield, Somerset, exploding killing all crew. The crew had landed at St Eval after a Gardening mission off Lorient the day before due to bad weather at home base.
