Son of Joseph Albert and Avis Louise of 24 Bolsover Street, Mansfield.Siblings: Winnifred (1907), Albert Leonard (1912), Frederick (1914), Frank (1916) and Avis Kathleen (1918).
He was baptised at St Mark's Church on 27th June 1906.
Left £147 0s 11d to his father, Joseph a colliery surface work of 24 Bolsover Street, Mansfield.
Enlisted into the South Staffordshire regiment but transferred to the Worcestershire Regiment.
The battalion left Liverpool in April 1942 for Bombay and in March 1944 they moved to Assam.
Battle of Kohima: 4/4-22/6/1944.
During the period of 3rd of April to 16th April the japanese attacked Kohima Ridge which overlooked the road from Imphal which supplied Kohima.
