Take off 18.55 RAF Balderton as part of an 81 aircraft raid to bomb the Nitrile Butadiene Rubber production works, Chemische Werke Huls, Marl, Recklinghausen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Intercepted and shot down on return at 22.40 by a night fighter Bf110 piloted by Oblt Helmut Woltersdorf of 7/NJG1 out of Fliegerhorst Twente. P1165 crashed at Dorpbuurt, east of Winterswijk, Gelderland,
Netherlands.
