Military history

Enlisted 9/7/1937 into the Sherwood Rangers Yeomanry. Wounded Lydds Railway Station while on guard September 1938 whilst serving in Palestine. Was serving in the Leicestershire Regiment as at 1/9/1939. The 1st Battalion was a Regular Army battalion stationed in the Far East on the outbreak of the Second World War. The battalion fought the Imperial Japanese Army. Believed drowned while crossing the Sungei Kedah River near Jitra, Malaya to escape advancing Japanese forces after the defeat of the 11th Indian Division, 15th Indian Infantry Brigade at Jitra.
