Singapore fell to Japanese forces after their invasion. The battle lasted from 8th February to 15th February. After Singapore surrended the Japanese over ran Malaya and Java.
Richard was one of 14 Royal Engineers who were killed on the 26th February, 11 of whom where from his company.
