Family history

Florence had Graham when she was 19 years old and unmarried. In 1921 they were living with her widowed father at 6 Strutt's Yard, Off Nursery Street, Mansfield. She was an out of work cotton hand.
Graham was baptised at St Peter's Church, Mansfield on 13th July 1921.
In 1925 she married Bertam Wright who lived at 3 Strutt's Yard, he was a widower. She had 2 sons with Bertram, Raymond in 1926 and Alfred in 1929. In 1933 she married John William Tilley and in 1950 she married Herbert Jenkins.

Military history

Based in the Western Desert the 2nd Bn took part in the Battle of Sidi Barrani in December 1940 and the Battle of Baradi in January 1941. The battalion was moved to Crete and took part in the Battle of Crete in May 1941. On the 20th May the Germans launched an airborne invasion of Crete and after being held on the first day they soon began to push the Allied forces back towards the southern coast. On the 1st of June the order to evacuate Crete was given and Crete was lost. The invasion had taken less then a fortnight. Graham was lost during the retreat to the coast.
