Hampden AE120 take off 22.25 from RAF Coningsby, 7 aircraft raid to Mannheim.

Aircraft was engaged and hit by heavy anti aircraft gun batteries of Flak Abt. 401, Flak Abt. 447 and Flak Abt. 646 around Duisburg, Germany. 01.00 crashing into a house and carpenter's workshop of the Lammers family in Breedenbroek at the junction of Den Dam and Luimesweg Roads, Netherlands.

Gerda Johanna Lammers 4 years old and her brother Hendrik 12 killed in the property,
their parents injured. Gerda and Hendrik buried at the old cemetery Dinxperlo with their brothers, Geritt who died in 1934 aged 10 and Broertje at birth 1935.

Many sites report the loss of AE120 to a nightfighter, but only 2 Luftwaffe claims were made that night matching other losses.

Local witnesses stated the aircraft was not on fire but both engines were misfiring before they cut out and the aircraft "just fell out of the sky".
