Military history

27/28 May 1941 Wellington R1044 150 Sqn. Take off from RAF Newton to bomb port at Boulogne. 24 aircraft to bomb shipping and the 4/SFltl. Schnellboot and Räumboote bunker construction site.

Crashed 04.45 on Colborough Hill, Halstead near Leicester on return after emerging from cloud to establish their position. On impact the aircraft broke in two the rear gunner being the only survivor.
