Before war broke out Frank worked in Retford on the railways, his nephew Peter believes he was told by his mother, Frank worked on the engines down in the engine sheds in Retford.

Family history

He was the son of Robert and Betsy Ann Greasby. Robert Greasby died 24th November 1931, aged 51 and Betsy Ann Greasby died 15th August 1939, aged 54. Frank left behind brothers Fred, Harry and sisters Alice, and Kathleen.

Because both parents had died the War Office notified one of his sisters by letter of Franks death of Typhus in India on the 27th July 1944.The letter was addressed to “Miss Greasby was living at Orchard Hill, Askham, Newark Notts”.
