Family history
Arnold was the son of Harold and Mabel (nee Coupe) Ball. They married in 1916 and Arnold was born the following year. However by 1921 Mabel was living with John Randol Cullen as his housekeeper and Arnold was listed as Arnold Ball, adopted son. John and Mabel didn't marry until 1932. In 1922 they had a son together, John R Cullen.
Military history
The 7 Coast Regiment was formed in Singapore in December 1940 but was lost when Singapore fell to the Japanese in February 1942.
