Family history

Son of Arthur and Sarah Charity of 82 Ravensdale Road, Mansfield.
He had one sister, Joyce born in 1924.
Baptised at St Peter's Mansfield on 24th November 1920 and at the time the family where living with Sarah's parents at 24 Nursery Street, Mansfield. Arthur and Sarah had only married on 31st July 1920.
He married Joan Allsop in Mansfield in 1942. Joan married twice more, Charles Allott in 1946 and Frederick Dickens in 1985.

Military history

Arthur is buried at La Delivrande War Cemetery, Douvres, France. This cemetery is 16 kms from Caen and most of the burials are for D-Day casualties, from Sword beach, (Oboe and Peter Sections).
On D-Day No 6 Commandos had the task of landing and advancing to the Orne bridges where it was to link up with the other commando units and relieve the air-borne forces. By evening they had reached their objective and had dug-in
