Military history

Enlisted in the RAF 1937. Served in the Battle of France with 98 Sqn Fairey Battles then with Coastal Command in Iceland, before joining 150 Sqn at RAF Newton

Wellington R1347 150 Sqn. Take off 22.30 from RAF Newton to bomb U boat pens at
St Nazaire. 5 Wellingtons from 103 Sqn and 10 from 150 Sqn at RAF Newton took part. R1347
believed hit by Flak on return crashing near Nantes, with the loss of all crew.

An experienced crew that had taken part in raids on Rotterdam, Brest, Keil and Berlin in April 1941 and Koln and Mannheim in May.
