Berlin 1939-1945 War Cemetery 8 E 27

Lancaster III ND696 took off 1707 8 Feb 1945 from Coningsby in the first phase strike against a synthetic-oil production plant. Believed shot down at R_dersdorf 26 km ESE from the centre of Berlin where those killed are buried in the city's 1939-1945 War Cemetery.

No survivors: Cotton (W/Op) + Kenneth Archibald (AG), Derrick George Bates (Pilot), John Thomas Broad (W/Op), Gordon Oliver Cameron (2nd Dickie Pilot?), John Robert Farrow (FE), Augustus Michael Burnand Hughes (Nav), Walter Robert Charles Parfitt (AG), Bernard Arthur Pullin (AB).

Unusual 9 man Lancaster crew. It is assumed that Broad and Cameron were on board for training purposes.
