Military history

Battle of Kohima: Situated in North-East India, Kohima Ridge was attacked by the Japanese forces from 3/4-16/4/1944. From 18th April to 13th May British and Indian forces counter-attacked the Japanese positions forcing the Japanese to retreat. This battle and the action at Imphal stopped the Japanese advance into India and had weakened the Japanese forces to such an extent that the Allied forces were then able to push on into Burma.
