Son of Lewis and Bertha Baxter of 116 Church Street, Clipstone.
Siblings: Frances, Framk, Matilda, Esther, Lewis and Samuel.
In 1921 they were living at 18 Tamworth Road, Ashby De La Zouch but by the time of Thomas's marriage they had moved to Clipstone. As Clipstone Colliery opened in 1922 it is possible the family moved to Clipstone in the 1920's to work at the colliery especially has New Clipstone had been built to house the new workers.
Thomas married Grace Wass on 25th May 1931 at all Saint's Church, Clipstone. They had 1 son, Barry born November 1932. Grace remarried in 1947 to Clarence Trigg.
The Air Despatch Companies were first formed in March 1944 in preparation for D-Day. They were involved in Operation Market Garden (17/9-28/9/1944), the plan was to take the bridges on the Nederrijn (Lower Rhine) between Eindoven and Arnham. The operation was a disaster resulting in heavy casualties.
In Thomas's Company 38 were killed, 4 wounded and 36 returned to base.

Mrs Grace Baxter of Church Road Clipstone has received the news that her husband Cpl Thomas Henry Baxter of Air Despatch R.A.S.C. who was reported missing on September 23rd is now known to have been killed on that date. Cpl Baxter would have been 36 years old this month. He was a former employee of the Clipstone Colliery. His wife, son and parents extend their thanks to all friends and neighbours for their sympathy and kind enquiries in their great loss.
Thomas is buried at Arnham Oosterbeek War Cemetery.
Originally called New Clipstone but is now normally just referred to has Clipstone.
