Son of John George and Mabel Oates of 20 First Avenue, Forest Town.
Siblings: Joyce (1921), Gladys (1923) and twins born in 1927 named after their parents John and Mabel.

Returning to RAF Tiree, Bute & Argyll after gathering meteorological data and U-Boat activity in the North Atlantic they collied with LL296 also of 518 squadron whilst descending through low cloud.
Both crews were killed in the accident and there is a memorial to the 16 men at the site of the airfield.
Kenneth was buried at St Alban's Cemetery, located behind the school next to the church. This cemetery is very overgrown.
