Family history

Son of John William and Alice Maud Hallam of 32 Church Street, Bilsthorpe. On CWGC they are listed as John Henry and Alice Mary but all other records have them as John William and Alice Maud.
Siblings: Francis William (1917), John (1921), Leonard (1930) and Irene (1937).
George married Elsie Cook of Cross Street, Bilsthorpe in 1940. Born in 1922 she was a embroidery machinist.
George was baptised at St Peter's & St Paul's Church at Church Warsop on 28th January 1920 as the family were living at 34 Welbeck Street, Warsop at the time. They moved to Bilsthorpe after 1921.

Military history

HMS Trawler Ulleswater: FY252.
Torpedoed by a German E Boat (motor torpedo boat) whilst escorting a night convoy through the English Channel. She was sunk near the Eddystone Lighthouse near Plymouth with the loss of her full complement of 26 men.
