Family history

Of 46 Charlbury Road, Wollaton. Daughter of Arthur and Alice Rickett, of Radley Terrace, Halam, Newark; wife of Wallace Tomlinson. A HE bomb hit 46 Charlbury Road; killing Maude who was asleep down stairs, her husband was injured but survived as he was shielded from the blast while coming down the stairs. 15 people were also injured including Inspector Frank Bennett of Nottingham Fire Brigade who lived opposite No 46.

28 aicraft of Luftflotte 2 bombed between 02.05 and 03.35, dropping 27 tonnes of HE and 9,924 1lb IB's. Most crews bombed visually but thick mist hindered later arrivals and these moved onto alternative targets.
