Military history

Held has a prisoner of war at Stalag XX-A at Torun, Poland.
Initially a camp for Polish prisoners but extended in June 1940 when it took 4,500 Allied soldiers from Dunkirk.
This camp was very brutal and many of the prisoners were suffering from disease, TB, dysentry. diphtheria. The Polish prisoners were often excuted by the Germans.
The camp was liberated by the Soviets on 1/2/1945.
