Son of George William and Mary Ann Rowney. George died in 1940 and Mary Ann in 1931. They were living at Thorne near Doncaster when they passed away.
Siblings: Elsie (1910), John (1911), Linda (1914), James T (1915), Bernard Felix (1920) and Ruby (1922).
In 1911 the family lived at 35 Alexandra Avenue, Warsop and by 1939 the family had moved to 82 High Hazel Road, Thorne.

Military history

The Royal Tank Regt, 42nd Bn was mobilised in September 1939 as part of the 21st Army Tank Brigade. In 1941/42 they were part of the 1st Army Tank Brigade in the Western Desert.

Extra information

George's name is not on the original plaque but is on the one added later by the Royal British Legion. Possibly missed off the original plaque has the family had moved away from Warsop.
