Of 32 Whittaker Road, Upton Park. Son of James and Alice Walker, of Kneesall, Newark, Nottinghamshire. Injured 19 March 1941, at Whittaker Road by a 1000Kg Luftmine
B (parachute mine), that landed at St Stephen's Road behind Whittaker Road; died at East Ham Memorial Hospital. Sidney Baldwin died at the same address 19/3/1941, Lilian E Baldwin also listed on the 1939 register was not a fatality. Raid was the largest on London since the 29th December 1940, 461 killed and nearly 1500 injured. The same streets would be devastated again in September 1944 by a V2.
