Family history

Son of Charles Elliot and Mary Elise (nee Hamerton) of Bedford. Charles was baptised at St Helen's, Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leicestershire, on 17 June 1919. At the time his father was the Headmaster of the Grammar School there. Charles attended Bedford School from 1927 to 1937. He lived at 11 Rothsay Road, Bedford.

Military history

Wellington R3288 150 Sqn. Take off from RAF Newton to bomb U-boat base at Lorient, on return to RAF Newton became lost and crashed into the northern slopes of Moel Farlwyd, Snowdonia when emerging from cloud. Rear turret broke free on impact and gunner Peter Martlew survived. All others on board killed instantly.
