Son of Enoch and Louisa Wardle of 1 Rufford Avenue, Warsop. In 1921 the family where living at Belton Leicestershire.
Siblings: Edward (1922), Gerald (1925), Hilda (1927), Olive (1929) Clifford (1932) and Barry (1934). Clifford was born in Leicestershire but Barry was born in Mansfield so the family probably moved to Mansfield between these two dates. Enoch was a miner so persumably moved to work in the expanding Nottinghamshire coalfields.
Leslie marries Violet May Pinnick in 1938 and they had a son John born in 1939.
The 74 Medium Regiment was formed in 1940 and part of the 144 Field Regiment. The unit was sent to North Africa in December 1942.
Between 22/4 & 29/4/1943 10 soldiers of the Royal Artillery were killed in Tunisia.
Leslie was buried at Massicault War Cemetery, Tunisia. Plot IV. K. 9.
