Family history

Youngest son of Charles William and Rose Ann Squires. Charles had died in 1939 and Rose in 1928. Charle and Rose didn't marry until 1906.
Siblings: May (1900), Rose Ann (1902), Frederick (1905-1906), Marie (1907), John (1914), Verdun Mona (1916-1918) and IdA (1917).
In 1921 the family were living at 11 Burns Lane, Warsop.
George had been baptised at St Peter's & St Paul's Church Warsop on 28th April 1920.

Military history

George had enlisted on 14th October 1937 and had served in Palestine prior to the war starting.
The battalion was in India until February 1941, then they moved to Penang, Malaya.
They were involved with heavy fighting from 10th December 1941 until the fall of Singapore in February 1942.
George died as a prisoner of war at Kuala Lumpar gaol.
