Military history

HMS BArham: Initially in the Mediterranean but moved to the North West coast of Scotland then back to the Med in November 1940. On the 25th of November whilst covering the Italian convoys she was hit by 3 torpedoes from U-331. Out of 1,184 men 841 were killed.

Extra information

A Pathe News cameraman was aboard HMS Valient and captured the explosion and sinking of the Barham. The footage was later used in the opening sequences of the film "The Guns of Navarone".
