Family history

Son of John George and Minnie Manning of Forest Road, Warsop. He had a younger brother, Gerald born in 1925.
Baptised at St Peter & St paul's Church, Church Warsop on 11th July 1915.
In 1921 the family lived at 93 Church Drive, Shirebrook, (John worked on the boilers at Shirebrook Colliery) and in 1939 they were living at "Hazelhurst" Forest Road, Warsop.

Mansfield Chronicle Advertiser: 16/11/1944: Killed in Motor-Cycle Accident.
We regret to record the death of Driver George manning who was killed as a result of a motor-cycle accident at Basingate, Hants, on November 2nd and was interred in Warsop Cemetery on Tuesday of last week. The cheif mourners were mother, father, auntie Pollie, Annie, Nellie and uncle Jim and aunty Emm, aunty Ada cousins Cis, Kathie, Bill and Eric.

WQ Charles G Polkey who was killed on 25/5/1944 lived a few doors away from the Manning family on Sherwwod Street/Forest Road.
