This crew bombed Bremen with the same aircraft overnight 8th/9th October 1943 and returned safely (TNA Air 27731/26 - 90 Sqdn Record of Events October 1943). The squadron was not operational on 12th October. Carrying out an air test from RAF Wratting Common on the Cambridgeshire/Suffolk border, Stirling III EF406 crashed at base trying to land with the starboard outer engine feathered. (IBCC data base). Rear gunner Moran either survived the fatal accident or was not aboard.
