Frank had an older brother, Robert born in 1912.

Military history

Mansfield Chronicle Advertiser: 19/9/1941: Military Funeral.
The funeral took place of Cpl Frank Haywood of 11 Fenwick Street, Warsop, whose death occured in Derby Hospital on September 8th, took place at Warsop Cemetery on Saturday.
The deceased who was attached to the Royal Marines had served in Palestine and Egypt and two years on HMS Malaya. He was home on leave when his death took place from heart trouble. Prior to joining up he was employed at Welbeck Colliery. He belonged to the Boy Scouts and served in the Territorials for 5 years. The coffin was draped with Union Jack and bearers were from the deceased's unit togather with buglars.

Frank died at Borough Isolation Hospital, Derby of Sub-acute bacterial endocarditis.
