Son of Benjamin and Sarah Chapman. Ben died in 1919 and Sarah married Robert Rigby in 1932.
George was baptised with his twin brother, Harry, on 5th April 1916 at St Edmund's Church Mansfield Woodhouse. They had an older brother, Ben born in 1910 and 2 sisters, Gladys 1908 and Constance in 1909. In 1921 Constance and Ben were both living in institutions run by Mansfield Workhouse.
George married Jenet Evelyn Eastelow in late 1940 and their son, Ronald was born in 1943.
Jenet remaaried in 1949 to James Colley.

Official news has been received by Mr & Mrs R Rigby of 24 Jackson Terrace Welbeck Colliery Village that their son, Guardsman George Chapman who has served 7 years in the Army was killed in Italy on Novemeber 8th and his twin brother is a prisoner of war in Germany and has a older brother serving in Italy.
