Son of Albert and Elizabeth Ann Walls of 10 Limestone Terrace, Mansfield Woodhouse.
Siblings Doris born 1917 and Kathleen born 1926.
On 26th November 1936 he married Gladys Isabella Cooper of 116 New Victoria Street, Mansfield at St Marks Church, Mansfield.
They had 2 children, Paul born in 1938 and Isabella Ann born, after her father's death, in the summer of 1943.
The 6th Bn was formed in October 1940 and fought in the Tunisia Campaign.

9/4/1943: Plateau Farm.
00.30hrs C.O. attends confrence at Brigade.
06:30 hrs O Group confrence discusses sweep of area J3944 which is still occupied by enemy.
07:45 O Group goes out to recce area. Adjutant goes to Coys, puts them in the pictur and warns them to be ready to move by 10:00hrs.
11:00 hrs Coys pass SP 392400.
13:20 artillery Barrage
13:25 hrs A & B Coys crossed the start line.
14:45 B Coy held up by MMG post for 2hrs. C Coy advance was held up by minefield in Square J4044 where 3 of the coy suffered casualties. It is indeed lucky that this field was not covered by fire. The coy eventually was led out of the minefield by prisoners sent back by A Coy.
16:25 hrs A & C Coys start up withdrawing, covering each others route.
17:15 hrs B Coy's second attempt to take their second objective failed and they were ordered to withdraw.
18:10 hrs Orders from Brigade to Bn to start withdrawl.
19:30 hrs Bn all back at Plateau Farm area. (own casualties 2 killed 12 wounded)
Harold was buried at Beja War Cemetery, Tunisia, plot 1.N. 3.
The inscription on the headstone reads:
"beloved husband of Isabella, daddy of Paul and Ann. God keep you safe till we meet again"
