William Arthur (Billy) Marwood was born, Circa : 1920 / 1921.
Son of : Lawrence Edward Vincent Marwood (Known as Vincent) and Florence Rose Marwood, nee Kirk of Radcliffe-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire.
Brother of : Margaret Marwood, born, 1913 and Eileen Marwood born, 1914.
His Father, Service Number, 30594, Gunner, Lawrence Edward Vincent Marwood had served with the Royal Field Artillery from 1903 until 1916 when he was discharged due to sickness, he received a Silver War Badge, he was also awarded the Military Medal.
According to the 1939 Register, the Family were living at : Lees Barn Road, Radcliffe On Trent, Nottinghamshire, Billy Marwood's sister, Margaret was a Certified Schoolteacher, Billy Marwood was employed by the Northern Assurance Company.
Enlisted : Cardington : April 1940.
Died : 15th February 1943, aged 22 years.
Lost In Aircraft : Vickers Wellington III : Serial Number : HF613 : Markings : DD-R.
The aircraft crashed at : 1311 hrs at Hermitage Farm, after crossing Peakshole Water and slid into an embankment completely destroying the aircraft and killing all 5 of the Crew, near the Village of Hope, Derbyshire.
The aircraft had taken off mid morning on a cross country exercise from Wellesbourne Mountford, near Stratford on Avon, they descended, possibly because of icing, becoming enveloped in a snowstorm , out of control the Bomber crashed.
