Family history

Son of the late Frederick John (knocked down and killed by a lorry outside the Travelers Rest Pub September 1939) and of the late Elizabeth Mary Sumpster nee Snell (died 1934) of 4 The Ivies, Farndon. He had 6 siblings, 4 sisters and 2 brothers (Fredrick died aged 2 in 1926) also 1 half sister. After his parents deaths he went to live in Birmingham with an old neighbour Mr Fred W Moore.

Military history

Joined Army the 17/10/1941 saying his birth date was 18/1/1921 when in fact it was April 1923. Telegram sent to next of kin 21/1/1941 stating that he was seriously ill at a Military Hospital, Devonport. Died at Stoke Military Hospital in Plymouth, death was by Meningitis caused by acute frontal sinusitis.
