Gnr John Stanley 368 Bty. 42 7th Bn. The Sherwood Foresters, Searchlight Regt. Royal Artillery. Died at Newark Hospital from injuries received when his motorcycle collided with an Army lorry on the Fosse Road near Newark the previous evening. He was returning to his unit after leave.
Inquest; Frederick Jewitt of Leeds who was heading towards Nottingham saw the lights of 2 pedal cyclists but nothing of the motorcycle. The only thing he know was when he felt something strike the off side of his van.
Verdict Accidental death, no blame attached to Mr Jewitt.
