Son of John Harold and Tressie Slack. John Harold was killed on 16/10/1916 whilst serving with the Sherwood Foresters.
Tressie married again in 1920 to Percy Briggs, but she died aged 29 in 1923.
In 1921 Graham and his 2 sisters, Margery and Tressy were living with Tressie and Percy at 31 Gladstone Street, Mansfield, along with their half sister, Joyce, born in 1921. After their mother's death they went to live with their grandparents, Herbert and Mary Slack who lived next door at 29 Gladstone Street, Mansfield.
On his POW card his sister Margery is listed as his next of kin and in his will he left her
£140 5s 6d.
Graham was taken prisoner at the fall of Singapore on the 15th Feb 1942 and died on 14th October 1943.
Died of maleria at 2pm on 14th October 1943 at the POW camp No 3 on Formosa. He had been ill since 8th April 1943.
The battalion sailed from Liverpool in late October 1941 on the P&O liner Orcades which had been converted to a troopship. They landed in Singapore on the 29th January 1942 and the Japanese attack started on the 8th February. Singapore fell on the 15th and the men of the battalion became POWs.

His cousin, Bernard Slack was killed whilst serving with the Royal Navy on HMS Esk on 1st September 1940. Their fathers were brothers.
