In 1939 Kenneth was working has a council gas fitter. His late father had been a gas inspector.

Family history

Kenneth's father had died in WW1. He had been a sapper in the Royal Engineers and was killed on 27 Sept 1917 in Belguim.
In 1921 he was living with his widowed mother, Ethel May, at 138 Newgate Lane, Mansfield. Kenneth was her only child.
In 1937 he married Alicia Beatrice Lee and their son, John, was born in 1939. They lived at 14 Abbey Road, Mansfield.

Military history

Kenneth had been held has a Prisoner of War at camp, Stalag VIII-C, Konin Zaganski, Poland.
On the 8th of Febuary 1945 most of the prisoners were marched westward ahead of the Soviet offensive. 200 prisoner were left in the camp hospital. On the march several prisoners were executed but after a month the survivors reached Stalag Luft IX-A. at Ziegenhain on the 7th March. Kenneth died a week after reaching Ziegenhain.
