Son of Walter and Lilian Lynam of 4 Alcock Avenue, Mansfield.
His sister Freda born in 1922.
HMS Nabaran was part of MONAB, Mobile Naval Airbase. Set up in November 1944 MONABs were to be used to support the new Pacific Fleet. In January 1945 they were sent to Austarlia arriving there on the 21st February 1945. HMS Nabaran was set up on Ponam Island off Papua New Guinea.
Walter died by drowning off Manly Beach, Sydney, Australia.

We learned with regret that Walter Lynam Air Mechanic for the Fleet Air Arm has been drowned at sea on March 3rd on his first voyage. He was the youngest son of Mr & Mrs W Lynam of Alcock Avenue, Mansfield and previous to joining the Forces he was in the employ of Messrs Foister Clay and Ward, Belverdere Street (clothes manufacturer) where he had many friends.
Buried in Sydney War Cemetery plot V. D. 8.
