Eldest son of Fred and Ida Burton of 13 Carter Lane, Mansfield.
Siblings: Janet (1923), Herbert (1924) and Robert (1937).
In 1921 Fred and Ida where living as boarders with Harry and Sarah Caunt of 10 Bishop St, Mansfield.
Edward was baptised at St Mary Magadlen Church, Sutton in Ashfield on the 3rd of August 1922.
In 1943 Edward married Joyce Pickering so they were married less than 6 months before Edward's death. They had no children. Joyce married again in 1946 to Owen Wood.
